The drive from Zurich follows the shore of Lake Lucerne to the canton of Schwyz. The world's steepest funicular climbs to Stoos, a car-free village high above the valley, and a chairlift continues to Klingenstock, where the ridge trail begins.
The path follows the crest of the mountain to Fronalpstock, with views over more than ten Swiss lakes and Alpine peaks as far as the Bernese Oberland, and Alpine flowers in the meadows. At Fronalpstock there is a viewpoint and a mountain restaurant before the way back down.
