Every private tour on this page begins and ends in Zurich, runs on your timing rather than a schedule, and is arranged by the person you will actually speak to. There is no group. There is no coach. There is a driver guide who knows the road, tickets held before you arrive, and a table booked for the hour you want to eat.
Seventeen days, and five of them finish in a different country from the one they started in. Most leave in the morning and have you back in the city for dinner. The Christmas market evenings run the other way round, because nothing at a market is worth seeing before dark.
THE DAYS
Beyond Interlaken: the Bernese Oberland
Lauterbrunnen and its seventy-two waterfalls, Grindelwald, and the Jungfraujoch if you want the summit. About ten and a half hours.
The Jungfraujoch
The highest railway station in Europe, reached through the inside of the Eiger. Timed so the Sphinx terrace is yours before the trains behind you arrive.
Appenzell: the Switzerland most visitors never see
Painted houses, Santis, Seealpsee, the cheese dairy and the brewery. Ninety minutes from Zurich and a different country.
Zermatt and the Matterhorn
Gornergrat before the crowd, the reflection at Riffelsee, and honest advice about whether to do it in a day at all.
A glacier landing by helicopter
Off the pad in Zurich, over the Oberland, down on the ice. Champagne and fondue laid out by the pilot.
Pilatus, Rigi or Titlis
Three mountains around one lake, sold as the same day and not remotely the same day. Which one, which direction, which hour.
Lake Lucerne by private boat
Picked up at your door, out on the Vierwaldstattersee with a skipper, swimming off the back if the day allows.

The Rhine Falls and the Black Forest
An hour north to the most powerful waterfall in Europe, onto the rock in the middle of it, then over the border for the afternoon.
Swiss Christmas markets
Zurich, Basel, Lucerne or Montreux, chosen for the party you are travelling with. Late November until Christmas, and an evening rather than a morning.
THE TOWNS AND THE BORDERS

Lucerne itself, on foot
The old town, the bridges and the museums, walked rather than glanced at between two cable cars.
Bern, the quiet capital
Sandstone arcades, the loop of the Aare, and a UNESCO old town with nobody queueing in it.
Basel, for whatever is hanging
A museum city on the Rhine where the German and French borders meet. The day is built backwards from the exhibition.
Liechtenstein
A principality, a passport stamp and a mountain road behind Vaduz. Half a day, and we say so.
The Black Forest, properly
Past the near edge into the clock valleys, the ridge road and the gorge. The German day given a whole day.
Strasbourg and the Alsace wine road
A French city with German bones, and walled villages under the Vosges with storks on the roofs.
Lake Como
Over the Alps at first light and down into Italy. The longest day here, and the one that admits it.

Every private tour runs with a private driver who guides. Tickets, gondolas and tables are held before you travel. If none of these is quite the day you want, say so and we will build the one you do want.

Can you build a day that is not on this list?
Yes. The days listed here are the ones asked for most often, not the limit of where the car goes. Tell us what the day should contain.
How far ahead should we book?
For July and August, weeks. For a Tuesday in May, often the same week. Railway seats and the boat run out before the car does.
What happens if the weather turns?
We call it the evening before. Cloud sitting on a summit turns a summit day into a valley day. We would rather move you into Lauterbrunnen, or out onto the lake, than sell a ticket into fog.
