Private Ascona, Lake Maggiore and Verzasca Tour

The castles of Bellinzona, the Tibetan Bridge, Ascona and Locarno on Lake Maggiore, and the Verzasca and Maggia valleys, in one private day in the south of Switzerland.

The day goes south through the Alps to a gentler climate. It begins in Bellinzona, below its castles, and continues to the Tibetan Bridge, a walk suspended above the valley.

Ascona, called the pearl of Lake Maggiore, has a lakeside promenade made for slow walking, and nearby Locarno has a colourful old town and its piazzas. The afternoon goes into the valleys: Valle Verzasca with its green water and the stone bridge of Lavertezzo, and Valle Maggia with its waterfalls, chestnut woods and small villages.

1. Bellinzona

   The town of castles, at the start of the south.

   A walk across the suspension bridge above the valley.

3. Ascona and Locarno

   The lakeside promenade of Ascona and the old town and piazzas of Locarno.

4. Valle Verzasca and Valle Maggia

   The stone bridge of Lavertezzo over green water, then waterfalls, chestnut woods and villages, before the drive back.
