Family Heritage and Shopping Trips

CRAFTED JOURNEYS

Family Heritage Journeys

Journeys back to the places a family comes from, planned privately for every generation.

ROOTS, ARRANGED PROPERLY

A heritage journey is not sightseeing. It is a return. The places involved carry weight, and the visit deserves preparation.

We research before we book. Parish records, family estates, the village a grandparent left, the house that still stands. The itinerary is built around what the research finds.

Multi-generational travel has its own demands. Different ages keep different rhythms. A programme that works for the whole family requires thought before it requires bookings.

WHAT WE ARRANGE

Every generation, accounted for.

PRIVATE RESEARCH

Archives, registries, and local historians consulted before you travel. The itinerary follows the findings, not the other way around.

MULTI-GENERATIONAL PACE

Separate programmes for different ages within the same itinerary. Each day works for the family as a whole and for each member individually.

PRIVATE APPOINTMENTS

Ateliers, watchmakers, and fashion houses receive you by introduction. The appointment is confirmed before you leave. There is no queue and no waiting room.

BEGIN THE RETURN

Tell us where the family comes from.

Names, places, and what you already know. We will research the rest and propose the journey.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What is a family heritage journey?

A return, not a sightseeing trip. We research before we book: parish records, family estates, the village a grandparent left, the house that still stands. The itinerary is built around what the research finds, then arranged privately through Private Travel Design.

How do you research a family’s origins?

Through records, local historians, and the archives that hold them, confirmed on the ground before anyone travels. We establish what can actually be visited and who will open the door. Arriving to a locked gate is the one outcome we refuse to risk.

Can several generations travel together comfortably?

Yes, if the pacing is designed rather than hoped for. The grandparents set the tempo, not the itinerary. Days are built with real rests, short distances, and rooms close together, so no one is managing anyone else’s energy.

What does a private shopping trip involve?

Ateliers and houses that open by introduction rather than by walking in. Zurich around the Bahnhofstrasse, the workshops of Istanbul, appointments held quietly with the right person expecting you. Purchases travel home without anyone carrying bags.
